Before you start

If this is your first time using our platform, our Getting Started collection has you covered for account setup, supported formats, and tokens. It will quickly put you on the right track.

Upload a new file

  1. Go to the platform. If you are already inside a project, click Overview at the top.

  2. Click New File next to the overview button.

  3. Drag and drop your video or audio, or choose a file from your computer.

Choose languages and options

  1. When the upload finishes, confirm the detected Source language. If it is wrong, change it, then confirm. Our detection is reliable and rarely makes mistakes, but you are always in control.

  2. Here, you also have the option to put your file directly into a project. Not sure which project this file belongs to? No problem! If you donโ€™t select a project, the video will live under your Files page in the Overview๐Ÿ‘Œ.

  3. Select one or more Target languages.

  4. Switch on Lip Sync and keep background sounds if you want those features. You can always add these back later though ๐Ÿ‘.

  5. Click Translate and let CHAMELAION handle the rest ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Tip: For the first run, translate into one language, then open the source language in the Dubbing Studio to verify the transcript. If, for example, your source language is German and Haus is misinterpreted as Maus, the translated English version will be 'Mouse' instead of 'House'. Learn more neat tricks in our Best Practice collection ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Preview the result

As processing runs, your new language appears under Generated languages on the right. When it is ready, click it to preview.

Not quite what you need? Click Edit in Studio to open our Dubbing Studio and make quick fixes to transcripts, timing, or other details, then click Generate so your edits make it into the final media.

Tip: If you want more help and useful information on our Dubbing Studio, visit our Help Centre's Dubbing Studio collection ๐Ÿง.

What happens behind the scenes, in short

We transcribe the source speech, translate it into your target languages, synthesise your audio in your cloned voice, and, if Lip Sync is enabled, align mouth movements. You just click Translate, the rest happens automatically ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Done!

Congrats! You have successfully translated your Video! If you now want to add more languages, just click on Target Language, select the languages you want your Video to be in and let us handle the rest ๐Ÿ˜‰.
